Critical Care
Care is critical when your pet is seriously ill, injured or in an unstable condition. The sooner a patient receives veterinary assistance in an emergency, the greater the chances are of recovery.
We have experienced doctors at Happy Tails for critical and intensive care patients as they require constant monitoring and comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care. They oversee the management of the most seriously ill patients; whether it’s for a few hours or for a day’s care.
Regardless of how long your pet is under the critical care team’s care, you will be constantly kept informed of your pet’s condition.
Because critically ill pets need constant monitoring, Happy Tails has an ICU that’s staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year — just like an ICU in a human hospital. The unit is designed for your pet’s comfort and safety and is equipped with sophisticated diagnostic and monitoring technology. This includes life-support equipment, a heated oxygen therapy cage, equipment that monitors heart rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen levels, electrolytes and blood-sugar levels.
Our critical care services include:
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Blood transfusion
- Continuous vital signs monitoring
- Intravenous fluid therapy
- Mechanical ventilation
- Nutritional support
- Oxygen supplementation
- Pain management and relief
